New Inn 2025 Share Offer

For a while now, people have been asking us how to buy shares in the New Inn, so after much work, we are now very excited to announce that this is indeed possible. Please read on for more information.

Background to New Share Offer

The New Inn has been trading as a Community Benefit Society since 2017. It currently has 228 shareholders (or members) and is managed by an elected Management Committee who meet monthly to oversee the running of the pub and community shop.

At times, the past 7 years of trading have been somewhat challenging, especially through the pandemic and recently following the departure of our long-standing manager. We are proud to have emerged from these difficulties operationally stronger and with an excellent kitchen and bar team.

The Management Committee is working not only on behalf of the shareholders, but also supporting our community. Our vision is to deliver a successful, sustainable and profitable business that serves that community as a hub for socialising, entertainment, great food and drinks and a welcoming atmosphere for all to enjoy.

We are very grateful to our original investors and all our customers for getting us to where we are now. We are also so thankful to the many volunteers who have given so generously of their time and skills to support us.

For the past 7 years we have maintained the fabric of The New Inn and have replaced, refurbished and repaired as funds have allowed. There are now a number of minor and major projects that we would like to tackle to further improve the fabric and facilities of the pub site.
These projects require new capital and so we are looking for new shareholders (and potentially existing shareholders wishing to invest further). We are very aware that new people have joined our community over the last 7 years and they would love the opportunity to support us and join the project directly.

Share Offer Purposes

The projects that we would like to deliver are outlined below. Some of the projects will help reduce our running costs, some will add new facilities or refurbish existing facilities, and some are important for our community inclusivity.

We will, where possible, continue to seek grants to assist in funding such projects. However, since the hurdles in achieving grant awards are many and difficult, this cannot be relied upon.

The proposed projects are:

  1. New entrance to the pub providing disabled access and a disabled toilet
  2. Solar panels and upgraded radiators
  3. Pub interior refurbishment (bench seating, soft furnishings, new carpet, lighting repairs/replacement, replacement urinals/toilets)
  4. New log burner
  5. New garden furniture
  6. Replace the existing pergola
  7. New garden covered seating area and pizza oven/outside kitchen
  8. New kitchen equipment

TOTAL ESTIMATED COST: £100,000

This list is neither all-inclusive nor exhaustive as there will most likely be other opportunities and investment needs that arise over time.
We have attributed a broad estimate of the cost of each project which, in many cases, assumes volunteer support to deliver, as was the case with the original refurbishment of the pub.

More Information and Frequently Asked Questions

We have prepared a comprehensive FAQ document. This document provides a link to download the Share Application Form if you would like to apply. It is important that you read and understand this document and, if you have any questions, please speak with any member of the Management Committee or email your questions to
newshares@nlcp.ltd. It is also important to understand that any investment in our company is much more a contribution towards our community than it is an economic investment in a trading business. The FAQ document explains this in greater detail.

Timetable

We want to raise sufficient funds by 31 May 2025 to enable us to commence some or all of the projects during the summer and gain the maximum benefit as soon as possible.
